Cool Wireless Phones of the Week

Sorry.  It's all old news on this page; I'm having trouble keeping up, so you'd do better to check out the Wireless Industry News Blog

I really like shocking new designs for phones.  Anything that challenges your point of view about what a phone should look like is good in my book.  That's why I really like the Nokia 7280.

Yes, from what I understand, it's targeting to the ladies (hence the lipstick-ish look).  Check it out: http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/7280/0,2803,,00.html

UPDATE: mixed messages?  See the italics message below first.  Some say the ROKR is doing terrible, but others say it has really helped Motorola stay on top.  So which is it?  I would think that their RAZR is what is driving their operations today.  Rarely does a day pass that I don't hear about a consumer churning from one carrier to another because they offer the RAZR.  And keep your eyes open for the SLVR which is like a candy-bar version of the RAZR.  There's also some buzz about the PEBL, and it's a nice-looking phone...but it's just a rounded RAZR with a smaller screen.  Why does Motorola love small screens so much?  But the idea behind the PEBL is that being rounded makes it more natural; did you know there are no squares or rectangles in nature?

The Motorola ROKR is pretty cool, but consumers haven't been buying as many as MOT hoped.  In case you didn't know, it's their MP3 phone.

The Nokia 7710 is pretty sweet. MP3 player, bluetooth, radio, touch screen, camera, speaker, etc. Check it out: http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=642

I'm sure by now you've heard talk about the Nokia 7700, which is their TV-phone. It's so wonderful, it almost makes me cry: http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,6771,47550,00.html

Also, Nokia is taking steps to buy Sony.com, Sony's online gaming subsidiary. Nokia is doing this in their steps to enable online gamers to play against each other via Nokia's N-Gage game-phone. See

Well, you might not think this is that cool.... HipTop.Bedope.com is a blogging site for users of a HipTop, or Sidekick, as it's known to T Mobile clients. It's a nice little color PDA/phone with a QWERTY keyboard. Check it out at http://snurl.com/sidekick

NTT DoCoMo has launched a wrist phone. Their first 1000 units sold out in 10 minutes. You can see a picture at www.3gnewsroom.com/3g_news/mar_03/news_3234.shtml
