What's New In The World Of Wireless?

In the link
above, I wrote an article lamenting the "fact" that there seems to be very
few new things coming this year in the wireless industry.
I do come up
with a list of a few interesting topics, but none interest me as much as
mobile commerce. I want to know:
WHEN WILL I
BE ABLE TO BUY A COUCH OR A CAN OF PAINT BY USING MY CELL PHONE?
I assume
this will eventually be done using one of these methods:
Imagine
getting your cell phone bill and looking at a list of transactions and
seeing purchases at the convenience store, movie theater, furniture store,
etc. and seeing that your provider is your new bank/lender? Imagine
the amazing profits they'll start making by charging you 18% interest for
all those purchases?
BILLIONS
MORE IN PROFITS FROM A NEW STREAM OF INCOME!!!
I'd love to
see wireless providers as the new credit card company.
Every once in a while,
you'll see articles on this subject, but nothing ever seems to happen.
Sure, there are various places in the world that see some mild success
with this flavor of mCommerce, but still not a single peep in most other
places.
I can't wait for
mCommerce. I hate cash. Long live the cell phone!
